My Intimidating TBR Pile Tag

Posted May 23, 2016 by Lauren in Random, Tag / 1 Comment

Whee! I was tagged by my lovely friend, Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads to do this tag! Lindsey Rey was the original creator of the tag, watch her video here! I was pretty excited to get tagged for this, and as Melissa said it would give me a little boost to hop back on the blogging wagon again – and it did 🙂 I went over my TBR for so long trying to come up with these answers; it was so hard trying to narrow down each topic to just one book!! These are my final answers!

1) What book have you been unable to finish?

The Diviner’s by Libba Bray. I picked this up years ago, practically just after release day. The hype really got to me on this one! I put a fairly good-sized dent in it before but I just stopped one day and never picked it back up. I hope to one day give it another whirl because I didn’t dislike it and I did enjoy what I did read!

What book have you yet to read because…

2) …you just haven’t had the time?

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. This book was one of the easiest ones to pick actually. It’s the ONLY reason I haven’t picked it up… I haven’t had to time. It’s a huge book but it’s not only that: because it’s a mixed-media type of book I want to be able to take my time and enjoy it. Hopefully soon!

3) …it’s a sequel?

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas & Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo. This is the only prompt that I chose two books on but I cannot pick between these two at all. I probably read about 25% of both of these books but haven’t picked them up again. Queen of Shadows is solely due to the fact that I do not want to be left without a ToG book to read, I’m going to pick it back up again soon though! Siege & Storm … AHHH … I feel like this book is constantly on my mind. I am almost 100% sure that I was spoiled for the ending of Ruin & Rising (on an unmarked spoiler – AHH!) and it makes me so frustrated.

4) …it’s brand new?

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. This will not be on my TBR for long and that is not an exaggeration. As soon as I finish my current read this will be the next one I pick up. I just read A Court of Thorns & Roses and I am a bit obsessed!

5) …you read a book by the same author and didn’t enjoy it?

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. Mind Games was not my favorite book I’ve ever read, and I know it’s a totally different genre but it seems to be holding me back a bit.

6) …you’re just not in the mood for it?

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson. Haha, ironically this is a book that Melissa gave me! I want to read this book but I KNOW that it is going to nearly kill me when I read it. Cancer? Parent death? Eeek. I never read books like that because they hurt my soul. I will do it one day though!

7) …it’s humongous?

Winter by Marissa Meyer. Another book that I want to read but just haven’t because it’s ENORMOUS! I started to read this and then flung it aside earlier in the year. The story of my reading life in 2016.

8) …because it was a cover buy that turned out to have poor reviews?

Torment by Lauren Kate. I probably should never have bought this. Fallen was just meh, but these covers are gorgeous. One of my favorite series – cover-wise. I don’t know if I will ever read this honestly.

9) What is the most intimidating book in your TBR pile?

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. Again, another book I look a stab at. And I do intend on reading it just when I have no idea. To make matters worse, Nick spilled coffee on this book so the pages expanded when they dried and the book is EVEN BIGGER (physically, obvs).

10) Who do you tag?

This tag is pretty old I think so I’m not sure who has done it or not, so anyone that wants to: do it!

Lauren

  1. I love, love, love this!!! Omigosh, I read a chunk of The Diviners and then I think it was due back at the library, and I never finished it! I have the ebook now, and should really finish that one. I was really liking it too. Okay, you need to read the following, like ASAP:
    – Queen of Shadows (because it’s not too long ’til Empire of Storms)
    – Siege and Storm (because c’mon, YOU are the one who got me into that series and then I read them all! And then you totally have to read Six of Crows because it’s even better than the Grisha trilogy)
    – WINTER!!!! I know it’s a massive book (and crazy heavy!) but it’s so, so, so good. Seriously good.
    – Second Chance Summer (whaaaaaat???? I thought you had read this?!?!? And, yes, it WAS me that bought it for you when I was your Secret Santa!!!! Although, to be perfectly honest, I don’t think I’ve read the books that YOU bought ME — ha ha ha!)
