Summary from Goodreads:

“Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

My Thoughts & Review:

Hopeless centers around two main characters, Sky & Holder. Sky has been homeschooled all her life, and has not had access to the internet, tv or cell phones because her adopted mother doesn’t believe in technology. For her senior year she finally convinces her mother to let her go to public school. The first day she meets Holder, who is intense, incredibly sexy and really intimidating. Sky senses there is something different about him, with his ever-changing moods and the many rumors surrounding him. That doesn’t prevent her from getting to know Holder and they soon start to fall in love… and the mystery surrounding Sky’s childhood starts to come undone.

Hopeless was amazing. It was like an addiction that I couldn’t stop. I actually devoured this book… and I dreamnt about it when I wasn’t reading it. I was absolutely enthralled with Sky & Holder’s whirlwind romance. I couldn’t get enough… I almost wish there was a sequel because I am in LOVE with this book.

I really liked Sky. She was tough on the outside but displayed softness when needed. I also loved her ability to still be able to think in tough situations. Granted she did have a few breakdowns, but she kept her head on her shoulders and was a very strong character. I also loved Holder… but no surprise there, I always adore bad ass, tough, tattooed sexy guys. I also adored Sky’s best friend Six. She was so rugged, sarcastic and horrificly honest. I wish she played more of a part in the story.

I was absolutely astonished by the quick turn this book took. I had no idea Hopeless was going to touch on such serious topics, and the ending had me shell-shocked. I felt so many emotions reading this book, it literally was an emotional rollercoaster.

I am so happy I recently purchased Colleen Hoover’s other two books because I cannot wait to read more from her! I love her writing style; it absolutely captivated me and had me clinging to the edge the entire time I was reading this.

If you love new adult, contemporary, romance and books that touch on serious issues absolutely read Hopeless… you will not be disappointed!

My Rating:

5 Stars
 Happy Reading!

  1. Your review makes me want to read Hopeless too!! Sky sounds like an amazing character, and I’m curious of her childhood secrets– I have a feeling it’s going to be intense 😀 I’ve not yet ventured into the New Adult genre and this feels like a good place to start!

    • It’s very intense Alicia! I’ve only recently started dabbling in New Adult… I started with Easy by Tammara Webber and it hooked me 😛 This is absolutely a good place to start… but you may have an addiction on your hands(there is ALWAYS Kindle sales on New Adult books!!). Thanks so much for dropping in 🙂

  4. I really liked Hopeless as well! I was a little unsure of how I felt about it in the beginning, but it quickly hooked me. I really liked that this book was not afraid to delve into really serious topics. Sky was a great character–full of strengths and weaknesses and just really fleshed out.
