Well… sadly, I am two days late with posting this. There was a major ice storm here and almost all of Toronto lost their power. We lost ours on Sunday morning at 8am, and on Tuesday afternoon we got a hotel room (which is where we are now). We did find out that the power has been restored at our home either last night or this morning, but we are staying another night here just to allow for the apartment to warm up. I had these posts drafted, but never scheduled them as I wanted to recheck before posting, so alas they didn’t post. This was one of my favorite events last year, and I had so much fun thinking up these lists, I’m still going to share my posts for the first two days 🙂

If you want to join up, click on one of the links above! I love seeing these lists, and last year I added a ton of new books to my tbr because of it!! I somehow narrowed this down to ten, and it’s quiet a good mixup of genres! Also, they are not in order… if I had to do that, I’d be here till 2015!

Merry Christmas everyone 🙂

Pivot Point
I absolutely adored this book. Kasie West is a remarkably story-teller, she captured me in both this one and The Distance Between Us. When I finished Pivot Point, I could have started it all over again because the story was absolutely AMAZING!

Stir Me Up
If I “book pushed” any book this year, it was this one. I was ADDICTED to this story. I read it on my breaks at work, in line at the coffee shop… it didn’t matter, any spare moment I had I was reading this on my phone. Amazing.

Clockwork Angel
I was absolutely stunned that I loved this book (and series). Historical fiction is not really my thing, but paranormal is and so many people said amazing things about it I decided to give it a try. Well, let me tell you that this opened up a whole new love for me and historical paranormal fiction! I adore it, and this series was so heart wrenching and emotionally destroying. I loved it. I picked this first one because, well, it started the love.

Crash Into You
I love this entire series of books, so it was really hard to narrow it down but there was just something about Crash into You that had me head over heels. I loved Isaiah, I loved the cars… the cover, the story… love.

If You Find Me
Another book that totally took me by surprise was If You Find Me. I was on an emotional rollercoaster reading this one, it’s beautiful.

Hopeless
Hopeless was by FAR my favorite of Colleen Hoover’s books, and it’s what started me on my Colleen Hoover addiction. It’s an incredible story.

Another Little Piece
I added this to my TBR as soon as I seen the synopsis and cover but I had no idea how crazy and horrific this story would be. Kate Karyus Quinn has an amazing way with words and created such a freaky but un-put-downable read.

Through the Ever Night
Through the Ever Night goes against the rule that the first book in a series is the best. I really enjoyed Under the Never Sky by TTEN was amazing.

How To Love
I didn’t really touch on this in my review much but this book struck an extremely personal cord with me. I loved their story, the romance and the writing. Beautiful.

Beautiful Creatures
Beautiful Creatures was perfect. That’s all I have to say really… paranormal, awesome characters, beautiful writing and the south.

And there we have it! What were your top picks of 2013?

Lauren

  1. I still haven’t read Stir Me Up even though I’ve had it on my Kindle for months! Apparently I need to move it up on the TBR. And I still need to start the Pushing the Limits series. I love the UTNS series by Veronica Rossi and I really enjoyed the Beautiful Creatures series as well. I definitely want to read some Colleen Hoover next year and How to Love sounds amazing. Hope you had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

    • YOU NEED TO READ STIR ME UP NOW! Like, seriously. It’s amazing… although I just got you to pick up a Colleen Hoover so that makes my heart melt a bit, lol. I did have a good Christmas, Rebecca, thanks so much; I hope you did as well and all the best in the New Year 😀

  2. 1. Oh my goodness! I hope you’re all safe, sound, snuggly and warm at home now!
    2. Pivot Point was a total surprise for me! I had no idea that I was going to end up loving it as much as I did.
    3. I have a hard time deciding if I love Dare You To or Crash Into You more, but I think I have to hand it to Crash Into You, too. There’s just something about Isaiah…

    • All is well now Hannah, thanks 🙂 It’s a shame I take so long to reply to comments lol.
I was really torn between the two as well! I went back and forth but it’s either Isaiah or the fact that it was fresh on my mind. either way I loved them both!!

    • Oh, I will add that to the list! I’m not hugely into audiobooks but I find I fair out very well with them when they are rereads. I like to listen to them when I’m cleaning or doing other stuff around the house so I will definitely be adding this to the list! Thanks Pamela 🙂
