Top Ten Tuesday

I had so much fun narrowing this list down to ten choices! My bookish bucket list is something that is ever-growing (much like my TBR…); I’m always finding new fun and exciting things that I want to do/see that are bookish 🙂

1. Meet Ann M. Martin

The very first series (one could say the cause of me being continuously obsessed with series!) I ever fell in love with was The Baby Sitters Club. I spent so much of my young life reading these books, not to mention I would act out a lot of the mysteries and stories with my sister AND I was a member of The Baby Sitters Club fan club. I was obsessed, to put it mildly. I loved to read before discovering the BSC but I think this is what really set it in stone. I would absolutely SOB to meet this lady!

2. Go to a signing at a bookstore

I am such a fearful little bird. I have no idea why this terrifies me so much, but the lines, the people, the actual meeting of the author … it’s all scary for me. I have actually stood in several lines waiting to meet authors, or got to the front of stores to just leave … I will do this someday, and it will be soon 😉

3. Go to BEA

I actually wanted to go to BEA this year but we are moving the same month so it’s just not feasible. Hopefully next year I will be able to attend! It just looks SOOOO fun, there are so many bloggers, so many books, authors AND NEW YORK CITY!!!

4. Have a home library

This, again, probably won’t be for some time but I want one SO badly. We do plan on turning one of the bedrooms in our new place into a media room/reading room but it’s not entirely what I want. In the future, when we purchase our first house, I will have a spectacular library with everything I want! Beautiful artwork/wall dressings, a cozy recliner, wall to wall bookshelves, a fireplace… I could go on for hours 😛

5. Read 250 books in a year

This will not be for a while and I know that but I would love to be able to read 250 books in a single year! This could really help to dwindle down my ever-growing TBR!

6. Go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

My family plans on taking a trip to Disney World within a few years and this will be the first thing on my list, even if I have to go myself. I DREAM of going to this… it would be amazing!

7. Go bookstore hopping

This is just for mere fun honestly but it would be so fun! I will have to jump on this soon as well because indie bookstores are quickly dwindling away to the big box stores!

8. Buy my childhood favorites

I have been working on this for several years as it will take some time but there are tons of books that I read as a child that I would love to own again. I do have copies of these at my parents house but they are well-loved and my Dad keeps them well taken care of. I don’t want those books to be ruined, with all the memories that they hold but I really would like to start to build up my own collections with these same books!

9. Stay at the library hotel in NYC

Gosh, do I need to really elaborate on this? It just looks beautiful, BEAUTIFUL! And such an amazing idea!

10. Visit some of the greatest libraries in the world

There are lists upon lists filled with these but I would really to visit a few of these across the world. Or even in this continent!

What’s on your lists? Please link up, I love reading bucket lists … especially bookish ones 🙂

  1. With the exception of #1, many of these are on my 50 bookish things bucket list. I am participating in Armchair BEA again this year and helping out with the cheerleading commitee. Its a lot of fun for those of us who can’t attend in person. Here’s my bookish bucket list. http://momssmallvictories.com/50-bookish-things-to-do-before-i-die/

I hope you will stop by my Small Victories Sunday linky and link up to 3 of your favorite posts (like this one). http://momssmallvictories.com/small-victories-sunday-linky-12-tasty-food/

    • I think that I will probably participate in Armchair BEA this year. I seen a lot of the posts last year and it looked like loads of fun!

    • Oh it would be so much fun right 🙂 I’m hoping this year I can get to some of the bigger branches in the city. I know none of them are spectacular inside but there is loads of books and that’s spectacular enough for me 😉

  2. Visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is one of the things I HAVE to do at least once in my life. I have this traveling list of all the places I wish to see and it’s definitely in my top 5 😀 Reading 250 would be great, but I’m not sure if it’s such a realistic goal for me. It would help with the TBR pile indeed, haha. Go to BEA is another thing I wish I could do, but for now it’s not an option. I’d love to meet everyone <3

    • 250 is SOOO unrealistic for me haha. Terribly, but for some reason that sticks out as something that I really want to accomplish haha. I HOPE YOU GET TO WW SOON 🙂 Gosh, I wish we could all make a giant trip there together! I would love to meet everyone as well, not even for the books, just to finally see everyone in person <3

  3. Go to BEA is on my list too! Only I will be able to cross it off this year. 🙂 I hope you get to go next year (and that I get to go again) because I would love to meet you in person!!

I just went to my first ever author signing this year. It was definitely a bit intimidating, but (most) authors are really down to Earth and just awesome to talk to. I met Marissa Meyer this year and a few other authors and they were all soooo nice! I hope you get to meet some authors soon!

    • YOU ARE SO LUCKY !!! Seriously, you are going to have so much fun at BEA! I would love to meet you in person as well, so I really hope I get to go next year!!!

I have met a few Canadian authors, and they were insanely nice but there was a lot less pressure that an author signing at a bookstore, haha.

  4. I want to go to the Harry Potter world as well. Since it’s quite far away from me, my first goal will be to visit the studios in London – I’m going to London in May, but with people who don’t like Harry Potter, so it might be that it don’t get to fill that goal then… I mean, WHO DOESN’T LIKE HARRY POTTER? 😀

    • The studios will be amazing as well 🙂 I would love to go visit those as well, just the world is more feasible for me right now because it’s in the same continent at least 😛 I hope you have so much fun, and you can convince them to go! YOUR RIGHT, who doesn’t like HP?!?!?! :S

  5. Awwww, the book signing thing! I still get super nervous at signings, and I never know what to say to authors, but I’d highly recommend sticking through it and at least saying hi! They don’t mind if you’re a little tongue-tied (or a lot, as is often the case with me). 😉

    • Bahaha, don’t worry, I would be the same way! SOOOO tongue-tied 😛 I have met authors before but in a much less nerve wracking setting, haha.

  6. That is a wonderful list. Meeting Ann M Martin would be incredible. I am going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter this year and am so excited!

    • Oh! That’s exciting though, I’m sure you will have a ton of fun! The books! The bloggers! It will be an amazing experience I’m sure 🙂

  7. I was a member of The Baby Sitter’s Fan Club too! I was obsessed with those books and had them all lined up around the perimeter of my bedroom =)

    Lovely list!

    • YES! I love when others were just as into BSC 🙂 There are still a few books that I am missing, I would love to collect them to complete my collection <3

  8. So many great things. I’m working on all of my walls being covered in books. 😛 I want to go to BEA one year too. I was supposed to go to RT this year, but things came up, and I can’t go. But it’s going to be in my city next year, and I’m soooo going. I see all the people that have gone to Wizarding World of HP, and I get so jealous. I love Harry Potter!

  9. Omigosh — I was hoping/planning to go to BEA this year, but it just didn’t work out for me either. Marko’s still a little too young to leave him at home with his dad. I hoping that it might work out for next year *fingers crossed*. IF SO, then we can brave the lines for authors together! I’m super shy too. I’ve been to see three authors in my whole life, and each time I had NO IDEA what to say. But maybe we can be braver together?

    • YES! Omg… we can totally go together 🙂 Two shy ones braving the lines <3 We shall be braver together! AND we would get to meet as well! I think this sounds like a marvelous plan Melissa!!!

  10. Oh Lauren, I do hope you get to meet an author at a bookstore soon! The crowds can be intense, but it’s a lot of fun surrounding yourself with other bookish people. I would love to meet you sometime! Will you be coming to the Laini Taylor signing on April 22 perchance?

Oh, and I just stopped by a blog whose blogger said they met Ann Martin when they were younger! How cool would that be??

    • YES! I would love to meet you too 🙂 I really want to go to the Laini Taylor signing but I don’t know how it will work out. I’m moving at the end of April so the next month is going to be super hectic 🙁 Once I get settled in though I will be definitely attending some. I just have to bite the bullet lol.

OMG, I would seriously SCREAM … she is so lucky! If I could meet just ONE author it would be her <3

    • I wish we had more indie bookstores around here to make it even more fun! Unfortunately Toronto is dominated mostly by the Chapters/Coles/Indigo franchise but it will still be fun to see what else I discover 🙂
