Top Ten of 2014Hosted by Rachel at Reading YA Rocks, Jaime at Two Chicks on Books, Mindy at Magic Urban Fantasy Reads and Nancy at Tales of a Ravenous Reader!

Well, you would think after the Ice Storm of 2013 and not having any of my posts drafted that I would be well prepared this year. Ah, not so! Of course, I didn’t have it scheduled and said I would do it yesterday when I got home from shopping, well I definitely didn’t as I zonked out so here we are posting a day late. I really need to talk about my favorite books this year, so despite missing the day and link up, I’m still going to post this right before today’s actual post 🙂

These are in no particular order, I love them all in different ways and couldn’t possibly choose which one was the very, very best! Compared to previous years my top ten books are definitely of a varied taste, which I love! I tried so many different genres this year and I am so excited to see that I got back into reading adult books; and that they were some of my favorites!

The Art of Lainey  Lamb to the Slaughter  Dark Lover  Lover Eternal  Say What You WIll
1. The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
*I’m sure there isn’t anyone surprised to see this on here considering I have talked about it so much this year! I absolutely fell in love with Paula Stokes writing, Lainey, Micah and this story <3
2. Lamb to the Slaughter by Karen Ann Hopkins
*WHOO! I have loved every single one of Karen Ann Hopkin’s books, but Lamb to the Slaughter takes the cake for sure. This was a fabulous mystery and set in an Amish community. I cannot wait for the sequel!
3. Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
*Oh my WORD! There are just zero words for the love I feel for this series and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Seriously.
4. Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward
*Hahaha, obviously the series is so good it gets two spots 😉
5. Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern
*Say What You Will blew me away. I LOVED this story and the characters and the friendships and the romance. All the swoons.

The Book of Life  The Opportunist  My Life Next Door  Shadow and Bone  Throne of Glass
6. The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness
*As sad as I was to see this amazing trilogy come to an end, I LOVED how it ended. It was just… perfect!
7. The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
*One of the first books I read this year, and one of my favorites. A complete mind fuck, amazing story, AWESOME! I need to finish this series in 2015!
8. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
*I just fell in love with this book immediately. The friendship, the love, the family, ahhhhhhhhhh. I need a reread!
9. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
*This was one of the first fantasy books I have read, well actual made up world type fantasy. AND I LOVED IT! Now fantasy is probably one of my favorite genres and it’s all thanks to this door opener! I Love The Darkling! And yet another series I need to finish in the new year!
10. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
*I love Celaena. I love Chaol. I love this book. I love this world. I love it ALL.

And there you have it. My absolute favorites of the year. What were your picks? Did you love OR hate any of these books?!

Eeek! Throne of Glass — yayyyy!!! I’m excited to try Shadow & Bone and the Discovery of Witches purely because of your love for those books :). And please please read more Black Dagger Brotherhood because they are SO GOOD.

  2. Looks like you had a great reading year. I love BDB so I’m glad you fell in love with it this year. I also need to keep reading the Grisha trilogy because I enjoyed the first one. It wasn’t my favorite of the year but good enough too keep reading.
