Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
Well, I must admit… this year has been full of a lot more forgettable books than year at this time. It’s probably due to the fact that I have read far less this year than the same time last year as well. THAT being said, I have read some PHENOMENAL books so far and strangely enough, quite a few of them are contemporary! In fact that is that what I am most wanting to read right now
1. The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
*Now this is just slightly funny to be… I am in LOVE with this book and I originally had zero interest in reading it. Then I started to think maybe I would read it, and THEN I won it in the YASH giveaway and THANK GOD! This is now, by far, one of my favorite reads of the year and I cannot sing its praises enough (look out for my review this week!!)*
2. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
*It took me so long to read this one and OH! when I did I am just in love with this story, and the Garretts and the romance and the whole entire thing. The end.
3. The Summer I Found You by Jolene Perry
*This one took me by surprise, and I just adored it. I can’t explain it, and I didn’t well in my review either but I just adore it and the romance and it was one of those lovely, unexpected reads of the year.*
4. & 7. Dark Lover & Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward
*I can’t believe I took so long to read this series (and I need to keep going soon!), I’m in love with all things Black Dagger Brotherhood. In. Love.*
5. Lamb to the Slaughter by Karen Ann Hopkins
*I adored Karen’s writing as a whole but this one blew me away. It’s a fantastic start to a new Amish mystery series and it’s SO FREAKING GOOD!*
6. The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher
*If Betty had never posted her review for this, it probably would have been forever off my radar and what a shame that would have been. This is JUST my type of book. Obsession type love, twists, shocking secrets and deception. Yes please!*
8. Witchstruck by Victoria Lamb
*Again, another pleasant surprise. I love historical, paranormal fiction and I hadn’t read anything in the Tudor era prior to this. I was thrilled by Witchstruck and cannot wait to continue the series.*
9. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
*Must I really talk about this one? It took me forever to read this and it’s shocking to me that it did. I swoon for this series.*
10. Hexed by Michelle Krys
*This is a recent read and another fabulous one. I love the snark, the plot and Michelle Krys’ writing… blown away by this debut!!*
And there you have it! What books have you loved so far this year? Link up!!
YAY!!! BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD!!!
I love BDB. I just have one last book in the series and I’ve been holding off because I’m not ready for it to be over
#3 was and still is my very favorite of all the ones I’ve read.
OH yes, I am on number three next
isn’t that the worst feeling ever when there is only one book left
I hate that too lol. Especially with a series like this because after so many books you are REALLY invested in it!
I’ve been on a contemporary kick too. It just feels right for the summer. lol
I loved Shadow and Bone! I need to read the BDB series. I’ve heard awesome things about them.
Agreed, it does feel right for the summer! Oh my gosh, I hope you love BDB, but I’m sure you will lol. It’s just … wow… totally sucked me in.
I loved My Life Next Door! And Shadow & Bone! My copy of Ruin & Rising is on its way! SQUEE!
OH MY GOSH! That’s amazing <3 I need to stay away from the internet until I read Siege and Storm and Ruin & Rising quickly ahha.
I’m really looking forward to reading Hexed and am glad to see you enjoyed it. Great list this week.
My TTT
Oh gosh, I hope you love it as well! it’s SOOO good, and snarky
Yay I’m glad you started BDB! I really love that series and the first 5 books are by far the best of the series.
Gosh, it’s SOOO good right! I need to dive back into the third book as soon as I catch up on my review books. I’ve been delaying it because the first two were all consuming and I’m assuming that the rest will be like that also
Shadow and bone, yeaaay! Just wait for Siege and storm
I’m so excited for Ruin and rising, only a couple more days. The art of Lainey & My life next door are both on my radar and I also need to check out Witchstruck.
Hehe, I cannot wait to pick up Siege and Storm again. I really felt like this was one of those series that I won’t be able to wait for, so I had to put it down
OMG, I hope you read Lainey and MLND… they both BLEW me away, total schockers but amazing
Witchstruck is excellent, I really like historical paranormal fiction lately and this was perfect!
Shadow and Bone is on My TTT too! Great list
x
GOSH, it was SO good right
I’ve been wanting only contemporary reads lately too! I think 75% of the books on my list this week were contemporary, actually. I loved My Life Next Door, and I read The Summer I Found You last year. It was so adorable <3
It was so adorable right?! Contemporary has been so surprising lately. I’ve definitely been giving it more of a spot on my TBR and it’s paying off
I have some of these on my TBR, others look pretty cool and I should go and check them out! Here is my list!

So I still need to read S&B and MLND. Fail. I think at this point I’m just going to wait for Ruin and Rising and then just binge read the whole series. Also, I just finished Hexed and loved it! It was such a fun story!
Shadow and Bone is SO GOOD. I was on a contemporary kick for a while and am starting to head to a fantasy kick
